Herbs with Cardiac Properties

Black Cohosh*, Foxglove*, Hawthorn, Hedge Hyssop*, Hellebore*, Lily of the Valley*, Mistletoe*, Monarda, Motherwort*, Peyote*, Raspberry, Wahoo*.

 Foxglove - Digitalis purpurea - CAUTION: Foxglove contains glycosides which are extracted from the second years growth of leaves to make the heart drug digitalis. Rashes, headaches, and nausea have been caused by merely touching the plant with bare skin. DO NOT USE WITHOUT MEDICAL DIRECTION.

 Hedge Hyssop - Gratiola officinalis - CAUTION: Hedge Hyssop is potent medicine and should only be used in the form of prepared extracts and tinctures to minimize the dangers of poisoning. Large doses of this plant produce numerous and dangerous effects. Use only under medical direction.

 Hellebore - Helleborus niger - CAUTION: The leaves and the rootstock contain a variety of glycosides similar in activity to digitalis. Contact with this herb may also lead to dermatitis. BLACK HELLEBORE IS NOT FOR USE WITHOUT MEDICAL DIRECTION UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES.

 Peyote - Lophophora williamsii - CAUTION: Use with extreme care, and only under supervision of someone familiar with it.
